Hidden Danger

The most obvious danger is the possibility that the ongoing conventional warfare between Israel and Iran, and also between Russia and Ukraine, will spiral higher, leading to nuclear destruction and contamination.

On June 1, Ukraine launched a surprise attack with over a hundred kamikaze drones smuggled into Russia and delivered by unwitting Russian truck drivers to locations near sensitive military bases, deep inside Russian territory. The drones were guided through electronic deception and pre-programmed GPS, and they overwhelmed Russian air defenses through swarm tactics, hitting their targets simultaneously. According to many and varied reports, Ukraine destroyed up to thirty-four percent of Russia’s strategic cruise missile carriers. Some of the bombers destroyed could have carried nuclear weapons, for they form a core part of Russia’s strategic assets and long-range strike capabilities.

Not much later, on Thursday, June 12, Israel surprised Iran with a massive bombing attack, targeting Iranian military bases and nuclear sites. The attack succeeded in killing many of Iran’s top nuclear scientists and its highest-ranking military officers. The Israeli government justified its deadly attack by claiming that Iran was rushing to build a nuclear bomb, which it would use to carry out its threat to erase Israel off the face of the earth.

According to Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Israel succeeded in destroying the above-ground part of the Natanz nuclear facility, which is one of Iran’s main uranium enrichment sites. The IAEA says Iran has been enriching uranium there to 60 percent purity, close to weapons-grade level. Although Israel destroyed the above-ground part of the Natanz nuclear facility, the IAEA concluded that “There are no indications of damage to the underground enrichment facilities at the site, but the power outage may have affected the centrifuges. There is radioactive and chemical contamination at the site."

According to many analysts, the precision of the attacks suggests a high level of Israeli intelligence agents operating inside Iran. We find it striking that some of the attacks were carried out by agents using explosive drones smuggled into Iran and launched within its own borders!

We think the success of the Israeli and Ukrainian raids reveals the hidden danger for the United States. Despite the fact that those warring countries were on heightened alert and were jealously guarding their borders, both Israel and Ukraine successfully breached those borders and launched attacks from within both Russai and Iran.

In contrast, under President Joe Biden, the United States had an open border policy. Everybody now knows that the Mexican cartels used the open border to smuggle tons of fentanyl into the United States, and that vicious criminals also entered easily, threatening Americans in both small towns and big cities. What about our enemies all over the world? Have they also smuggled explosive drones into the United States, targeting our military bases and our power generating facilities?

In March 2024, then FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before Congress saying that “we are seeing a wide array of very dangerous threats that emanate from the border, citing drug trafficking in particular: The FBI alone seized enough fentanyl in the last two years to kill 270 million people.” In addition, he said that “we were at a heightened threat level from a terrorism perspective – citing "Threats from homegrown violent extremists that is jihadist-inspired…foreign terrorist organizations, and state-sponsored terrorist organizations all being elevated at one time since October 7.” He ended by saying that “this is a time I think for much greater vigilance".

You can say that again! We’re super glad that under the Trump Administration, the FBI is no longer wasting its time by spying on Catholics who favor the Latin Mass, or protestors praying at abortion clinics. In these dangerous times, the FBI should instead focus its attention on the “got-aways.” These are the people who did not report to immigration authorities and instead sneaked across our open border. According to Factcheck.org (in February 2024): “DHS estimated there were 660,000 “got-aways,” or unlawful entries, in fiscal 2021. “Under this Administration, the estimated annual apprehension rate has averaged 78%, identical to the rate of the prior Administration.” That rate would support a got-away figure of 1.6 million people from February 2021 through October.

Where did all the 1.6 million got-aways go? You better hope and pray that none of them smuggled in an arsenal of drones across our open borders and are now waiting for the appropriate time to launch them. Heaven help us!
